The app will automatically calculate the number and dimensions of the samples you must survey. The screenshot below shows the information displayed at the top of the sample page. In this example, the app is telling us our section is 444m long and we need to survey 4 samples that are each 25m long. In between samples we will have an approximate skipped interval (i) of 115m.
Follow these steps to mark your samples:
- Choose representative samples, they do not need to be spaced exactly @ i
- Walk along sample, measure length with survey wheel
- Mark Start/End of sample with spray paint (optional)
An example of a sampling setup can be seen below. In the example, the section length is 444m (1456ft) and 9m (30ft) wide. Given these dimensions, the app tells us we need to survey 4 samples that are 25m (82ft) in length each, with a “skipped interval” i of 115m (377ft).
